Das Barbecu transforms Wagner’s classic “Ring Cycle” operas into an evening of musical comedy and melodramatic zip in the mythical land of Texas. This witty tale of love and greed follows two sets of mismatched lovers and three generations of feuding families on a quest for a Ring that everybody wants. Five actors play over 30 outrageous characters from heroic cowboys and synchronized-swimming rivermaidens to dwarves and giants, a psychic, and spinster triplets. The music is Texas-flavored Broadway, jazz and western swing with fun titles like “Hog-Tie Your Man,” “Rodeo Romeo,” and a song and dance tribute to the joys of guacamole in “Makin’ Guacamole.”
