About This Show

The Lakewood Cultural Center & Red Rock Community college present the Colorado Quickies 10th Anniversary. This is a presentation of short plays written by Write Angle Productions, produced by the Red Rock Community College Department of Theatre Arts & Dance.

The plays and playwrights chosen for this years Colorado Quickies are:

Cries For Help, written by Rebecca Burroughs. Lakewood resident Rebecca Burroughs is a member of Dramatists Guild of America, Inc. Her plays have won the 1999 Rocky Mt. Theatre Association’s and the 2002 New Colorado vioces competitions. Cries For Help was also chosen for a production in this year’s Playwirhgts Showcase of the Western Region.

The Booths written by Ken Crost. Ken Crost has completed three half-hour teleplays; two feature screenplays, a short screenplay, four one-act plays, two full-length plays and is currently working on completing a new feature screenplay, Goodbye Norma Jean.

After The Odessey, written by Cynthia Davies. She is a former actress, working playwright and first time director. She studied theater at the University of Colorado and has been involved in a variety of productions in the Denver area including Latent Images with The Denver Center Theater Company.

The Last Gold Eagle, written by James P. Downing. James has been actively writing for 25 years. His second full-length play Charles & Emma, a drama based on the personal diares of the Darwins, had a workshop production in conjunction with the 2001 Colorado Shakespeare Festival and went on to win first prize in the 2002 Rocky mountain Theatre Association’s playwright competition.

Rumble Schmumple written by Megan Gogerty. Megan is from Austin, Texas and was selected for a prestigious Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS) 2003 Internship in the category of television development. Her Play Rumble Schmumple was chosen in an ACTF Festival 10-minute play competition, and was performed at Kennedy Center in April 2003.

Opposite Poles written by Mark Ogle. Mark is a Denver native and both an actor and a playwright. His original plays have premiered at Red Rock Community College, Theatre on Broadway and the Changing Scene Theatre. He is past president of the Colorado Dramatists and he is a founding member of Write Angle Productions.

Writer’s Gothic, written by Pamela Jamruszka Mencher. In addition to being a playwright, producer, director and costume designer, Pamela is the Chair and Founder of the Theartre and Dance Department at Red Rock Community College. She teaches acting, playwriting, theatre production and speech and is the recipient of the 2002/2003 Outstanding Faculty of the Year and and Endowed Teaching Award – 2003-2005.

Searching for Renato Yearney, written by Tyler Smith. His first produced play, The Visitation, premiered at Denver’s Changing Scene Theater in 1995; since then he has had five more premiers in Denver: Perfect Pitch (1997), Be My Guest (1998), Hod (1999), Hang Time (2000), Another Song (2001), and The History of Last Night (2003).
