Packed with humor, passion and incredible music, Black Broadway celebrates hit musicals (which have a total of 54 Tony Awards, 33 Drama Desks, 13 Outer Critics Circle Awards, two Obies and six Grammys). Stars Monica Patton and C.E. Smith, along with musical director Alva Nelson, bring the legacy of these musicals to life. Each dazzling segment is drawn from memorable moments in Broadway favorites – from “Ain’t Misbehavin'” and “Porgy and Bess” to “The Wiz” and “Ragtime”. The roster of its composers features such figures as George Gershwin, Johnny Mercer, Harold Arlen, “Fats” Waller and Duke Ellington.
