Under the tutelage of Dr. Pangloss, Candide and his beloved Cunegonde grow up believing they live in “the best of all possible worlds.” But when Candide is banished, his travels around the world test his optimism and his love for Cunegonde. Connecticut Repertory Theatre presents Candide, with music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Richard Wilbur, with additional lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and John LaTouche. Hugh Wheeler’s book is based on the 18th century classic by Voltaire. Gary M. English directs.
