Dr. Vivian Bearing is the professor you went out of your way to avoid in college. She’s brilliant, an expert in metaphysical poetry, one of the most notoriously difficult subjects in English literature. She cuts no slack in class, and does not have a high regard for most of her students. She is not your average nurturer. She has a soft spot for nothing or nobody. But something new has happened to Dr. Bearing. She is in the fourth stage of metastasized ovarian cancer. When we meet her, she has only two hours to live.
