About this show

A lawyer with a fully developed talent for obfuscation is suddenly put into the position of defending his most important client (himself). The charge: burying a hypothetical lawn mower. An angry hooker, who describes herself as a "para-professional," pours out her heart to the suicide counselor, a man new on the job, answering the telephone at a Manhattan hot-line center. Meanwhile, over on Central Park West, two civilized, upwardly mobile couples straighten out their Byzantine extramarital relationships, not through cool analysis but with a snub-nosed gun. In this collage of three crazy, and quirky comedies by three outrageous comedians and playwrights, David Mamet, Elaine May, and Woody Allen have joined forces to write Death Defying Acts, a collection of one-act comedies that are funny, twisted, and demented.
