About This Show

Brown Couch Theatre Company continues its second season with Jonathan Tolins’ The Twilight of the Golds. The Golds, a liberal, Jewish family, are thrust in the middle of an ethical crisis. After Suzanne announces she is pregnant, her husband Rob, a genetic researcher, reveals that his prenatal testing has determined the child will be “like David,” Suzanne’s gay brother. Now the entire family must reassess their values as the expectant parents decide whether to keep a child that will surely face hardship in society.

Twilight presents several different and persuasive perspectives on some of the most hotly debated current topics: gay rights, abortion, and genetic research. As scientific knowledge increases, new ethical dilemmas are created — today’s most advanced discoveries are leading to particularly heated discourses regarding our basic beliefs in what is right and wrong.
