About This Show

The familiar story of wit, prestige, power, and love is turned on it’s head in Bruised Orange’s staging of Moliere’s The Misanthrope, translated by Ranjit Bolt. A young group of “somebodies” are all entranced with the intoxicating Celimene, the queen bee of Chicago neighborhood hipness. Alceste is determined to fight against his passion for Celimene and hang on to his dedication to truth outside of trend. Alceste’s and Celimene’s love for each other gets lost in a game of wit and appearances played by a crazy cast of hipsters, posers, and groupies.
