About This Show

The Players Ring Theatre of Chicago presents The Grotesque History of Marie Antoinette, a dark comedy by Noah Sheola. Historically accurate but absurdly comic in style and tone, the play presents the ill-fated Queen’s
decline and demise as France is engulfed by revolution. This production stresses
comedy over realism, incorporating elements of sketch comedy, Commedia dell’Arte, and children’s theater in a comic telling of a tragic story. Michael Gillett directs.
