The Crossing

About This Show

The Crossing tells the true story of 18 undocumented Mexicans who suffocated in an overheated boxcar as they were attempting to cross into the United States — and the one young man who survived. First produced in the United States in 1991 by Chicago’s Teatro Vista, this staged reading reunites the original director, Henry Godinez, with some of the original cast. Immediately following the reading, a panel comprised of leading politicians and community activists address the contentious immigration debate that is currently sweeping the country.

Part of the Goodman’s Latino Theatre Festival.
