In the nether world you take what you can get... European Repertory Company presents Teibele And Her Demon, by Isaac Bashevis Singer and Eve Friedman, directed by Zeljko Djukich. The play is set in a small town in Poland in the 1880s. Teibele is a young woman whose husband has left her without divorcing her, rendering her an agunah, a woman ineligible to marry until her husband divorces her or dies. Alchonon, an unemployed village tutor, is smitten with her. He discovers her passion for demons and disguises himself as a demon to win his way into her bed and her heart.
