Stages 2004: A Festival Of New Musicals features eight new
musicals from composers and lyricists from across the country. From a musical about Al Jolson to another about British serial killer Jack the Ripper, from American Klezmer to the Old West, this festival has something for musical lovers of every persuasion. A full schedule is listed below:

Broadway Man: Book by Sherman Yellen, New Songs by Will Holt. Director-Steve Scott. Broadway veteran Sam Harris portrays the stage and film legend Al Jolson. This sassy musical features Jolson standards and new songs.

American Klezmer: Book by Joanne Koch and Sarah Blacher Cohen, Music by IlyaLevinson; Lyrics by Owen Kalt. Director-Domenick Danza; Music Director-Hugh Clay. Two sisters come to America in 1910 to embrace the zesty Jewish jazz music and those who create it. This musical romance features members of the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band.

The heartfelt and heartbreaking story of Stephen Foster, the genius troubadour who chronicled life in nineteenth century America. He is portrayed in the glittering style of American vaudeville.

True or not, they fashion a musical revue to showcase these lost treasures.
