About This Show

To celebrate Chicago’s hosting of Gay Games VII, Live Bait presents Some Like It Homo, three unique visions of queer life in the USA:

Golden Corral, written & performed by Joe Steiff, directed by Brigid Murphy
Filmmaker Joe Steiff’s critically-acclaimed solo debut returns to Live Bait for four performances only. A poignant mosaic of grandmothers, government cheese, firearms, and growing up gay in rural Appalachia. “Funny and piercingly honest, Steiff takes the details of his young adulthood and makes magic” (Chicago Reader).

Other Funny Stories About Cancer, written & performed by Brian Lobel, directed by Margot Bordelon
When Brian Lobel found out he had testicular cancer at twenty, he faced surgery that could save his body, but ruin his love life. His first thought? “I want to live.” His second? “I don’t want to die a virgin.” Other Funny Stories About Cancer takes a deliriously comic look at queer identities, virginity, mortality, and “happy endings” for everyone.
