About This Show

This whimsical production, based on over 14 magical stories by beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss, is directed and choreographed by Rachel Rockwell.  In addition to a performance from a cast of top Chicago actors, Drury Lane Oakbrook Terrace offers families the special opportunity to have breakfast with the Easter Bunny on April 6 and the cast of Seussical on May 16.

Join the mischievous Cat in the Hat as he narrates the story of Horton the Elephant and his friends as they embark on a fanciful journey from the Jungle of Nool, through the mountains and across the ocean, to help a young girl named JoJo bring harmony back to the tiny planet of Who.  Along the way, meet zany Dr. Seuss characters including the tiny Whos, harmonizing birds, a sour kangaroo, and trouble-making monkeys!

A rock musical for all ages, Seussical is an enchanting celebration of friendship, compassion, bravery, and the power of the imagination.  The show features elements from Dr. Seuss classics including. The Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears a Who, Horton Sits on the Egg, Yertle the Turtle and Other Stories, McElligot’s Pool, and Oh, The Places You’ll Go!

Seussical was created by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, the Tony Award-winning team behind the acclaimed musical Ragtime. Ahrens and Flaherty conceived the project with the assistance of Monty Python’s Eric Idle.

Seussical features an amazing cast, including George Keating (Cat in the Hat), Bernie Yvon (Horton the Elephant), Tempe Thomas (Gertrude McFuzz), Cheryl Avery (Mayzie, Bird Girl), Arielle Leigh Dayan (split role as JoJo), Elianna Schnittman (split role as JoJo), Matt Raftery (Wickersham Brother, Mr. Mayor), Holly Stauder (Bird Girl, Mrs. Mayor), Scott Alan Jones (Wickersham Brother), Jason Shuffler (Wickersham Brother), Melody Betts (Sour Kangaroo/Bird Girl) and Ericka Mac (Bird Girl, Ensemble).
