About this show

Chicago is a city full of artistic mystery. Whether you follow the underground band scene, the latest popular art galleries or one of the two hundred plus theater companies, there is an endless supply to explore. With all of this art to consume there is one mystery that hits close to home to many of us. That mystery is, why do so many Chicago artists move away to the East or West coast? Brian Blankenship's world premier is a farcical comedy which follows two Chicago friends and roommates, Tony and Drew. Tony is an up and coming musical theater actor while Drew, a down on his luck writer, has been reduced to writing crossword puzzles for The Times. When Tony lands a role in a new musical called My Kinda Town, he finds this may be the vehicle to help him fulfill his dream of bringing his theatrical talents to New York. Just days before opening night Tony's mother pays him a not-so-welcome visit while Drew begins scheming up ways to keep Tony in town.
