New York City
Jewish Roots of Broadway
$12 - $38
Some of the most influential fathers of American musical theater were brilliant Jewish composers and lyricists such as George and Ira Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Oscar Hammerstein II and Stephen Sondheim. This fall, Chicago a cappella explores their influences and forebears, from European synagogue music to Yiddish vaudeville on Second Avenue, and will perform some of the best-loved American Songbook standards that arose from these traditions.
Performances begin: July 14, 2024
