About This Show

Greensboro: A Requiem is written by Emily Mann, and directed by Brad Akin.

On November 3rd, 1979, five people were killed and eight more injured when members of the Klu Klux Klan and the self-proclaimed American Nazis stormed an anti-Klan rally in Greensboro, North Carolina. The event received scant media attention as the next day 66 Americans were taken hostage in Iran and held for 444 days.

The script is based on courtroom transcripts, newspaper articles and interviews with survivors creating an ambitious and riveting theatrical event that Mann describes as “eerily present” for our own time.
