While home on military leave, Mary announces her engagement to Lizbeth and throws an already tense family dynamic into a tailspin. Mary's father refuses to acknowledge and accept her lifestyle as her mother silently suffers his verbal abuse. When his personal lies and hypocrisy are revealed, Mary's mother discovers and asserts her own strength. Finally, it is Mary's grandparents, a zoologist and zoo docent, who show everyone his and her place in the animal world. Three Cat Productions proudly presents the first Chicago New Work Festival. Developed with the goal of showcasing Chicago playwrights, fostering relationships between playwrights and directors, and bringing new work programming to the Edgewater neighborhood.
