About This Show

Steep Theatre presents Catch-22, a stage adaptation of the novel by Joseph Heller. The play focuses on bureaucratic incompetence and the struggles of a bombardier named Yossarian.

Set in an American Air Force base on a tiny Mediterranean island at the close of World War II, Captain Yossarian tries to be certified insane so he can stop flying bombing missions and save his own life. But there’s a catch, and that’s Catch-22, which specifies that a concern for one’s own safety in the face of danger is a real and immediate process of a rational mind. Yossarian begins a journey to insanity and back through bureaucracy, corruption, and high comedy.
