Beautiful Thing

We don’t choose who we love. Love chooses us. Teenage boys Jamie and Ste (short for Steve) are neighbors in a working-class housing project in London. Neither has an ideal home life–Jamie’s mother, Sandra, covers her pain with scathing humor and Ste’s father and brother abuse him emotionally and physically. When Jamie’s feelings for Ste become romantic the two begin a tentative relationship–leaving each young boy a little less alone in the world.
