Arms and the Man

About This Show

Oak Park Festival Theater presents Arms and the Man by George Bernard Shaw, directed by Kevin Christopher Fox.

A satire on the foolishness of both the glorification of war and affection based on idealistic notions of love, mixed with with Shaw’s commentary on social class. The rich young lady Raina must choose between her foppishly romantic fiance/hero, who is more toy than soldier, and the prosaic realist Bluntschli, who knows how to fight a war but carries chocolate creams instead of bullets.
