A dark, hilarious and edgy play, Sky Gilbert’s Crack explores all the things we don’t want to think about. Using the subject of addiction to ignite its discussion, this gritty one-act looks at collisions of class through the encounters of a man and three different women. In each encounter, the play uses a different definition of “crack.” Ultimately, Gilbert examines how issues of class, sexism and homophobia are wrapped up in notions of addiction, while confronting the possibility that many of us may be addicts – only some are more “respectable” addicts than others.
