The Experiential Theater Company presents the smash hit Meisner, a one-man show about one of the world’s most influential and respected acting teachers, Sanford Meisner. Written by Meisner’s protege, Jim Jarrett, the play gives audiences the opportunity to experience firsthand the irascible and entertaining legend who helped advance more acting careers than the other top-name acting teachers combined.
Through Jarrett’s passionate play, Sandy’s classroom comes to life – the same classroom where seats were filled for over a half century by the likes of Gregory Peck, Geraldine Page, Grace Kelly, Joanne Woodward, Robert Duvall, Steve McQueen, Diane Keaton, James Woods, John Cassavettes, Eli Wallach, Anne Jackson, Peter Falk, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jeff Goldbloom, Mary Steenburgen, Susan Sarandon, Sydney Pollack, David Mamet, Mark Rydell and all the rest who’ve gone on to change the world of acting, theater and film. The list also includes Jim Jarrett, who spent four years with Sanford Meisner – two as a student in his professional, private class, then two more as Mr. Meisner’s assistant and teacher-in-training.
Tickets are available at Readers Books, Sonoma Valley Music, Pharmaca, and the Sonoma Community Center in Sonoma. VIP tickets include preferred seating and an after show “on-stage” dessert reception with Jim Jarrett. All proceeds from this performance benefit the Experiential Theater Company’s performing arts youth program.
In addition to Meisner, ETC presents “Respect for the Craft of Acting” on April 27, 28 and 29. The three-day intensive workshop for teens is taught by Jarrett. For more information visit www.etcworld.org or call 707-935-6675.
