About This Show

This immensely popular show combines the topsy-turvy situations that kept the Romans laughing with the zany nonsense of vaudeville. Pseudolus, a roguish slave to a Roman family schemes to become free. His young master, Hero, promises freedom if Pseudolus can obtain a beautiful girl, Philia, whom Hero has seen from his bedroom window. Deliciously unsavory characters, a befuddled father with a shrewish wife, neighbors, strangers and the Roman army are all drawn into the mounting confusion as this sidesplitting musical comedy unwinds. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbert, is directed by Michael Manley.

There are Sunday Matinees on July 20, 27, August 3 and 10 at 2pm.
