AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Beyond the Stage Productions, and Manchester Labs present the smash hit musical RENT. This performance is a benefit for Los Angeles HIV/AIDS education organization The Stigma Project (www.thestigmaproject.org) and the college scholarship funds of the Manchester Labs Foundation (www.manchesterlabs.org). Directed by Ovation Award Winning Director Michael A. Shepperd (Celebration Theatre).
Based on Puccini’s ‘La Boheme’, this rock opera tells the story of one year in the life of a group of bohemians struggling to make it in modern day East Village New York. The story centers around Mark and Roger, their friends, and how they choose to live with and not die from disease. Mark tries to capture their lives on film and through it, make sense of his own life. In the year that follows, the group deals with love, loss, AIDS, and modern day life in one truly powerful story
The production will combine everything we love about RENT with amazing state-of-the-art, 3D mapping technology for our sets that will immerse the audience in New York, the love story at the center of the show, and the family that is built around it.
