About the Show

The Ojai Playwrights Conference focuses on developing previously un-produced plays from established and emerging playwrights, choosing six to be developed during the intense two-week conference. It culminates in public readings, allowing each playwright another level of vital feedback.

This year’s presentations are: Unusual Acts of Devotion by multiple Tony winner Terrence McNally, Directed by Leonard Foglia; Nine Circles by Bill Cain (Stand-up Tragedy), Directed by Hal Brooks; The Sandreckoner by Dan Dietz (Dirigible), Directed by Abigail Deser; Language Rooms by Yussef El Guindi (Back of the Throat), Directed by Robert Egan; Eclipsed by Danai Gurira (In the Continuum), Directed by Robert O’Hara; and I Am Montana by Sam Hunter (Idaho/Dead Idaho), Directed by Mark Rucker.
