In true Stoppard fashion TRAVESTIES is a memory play which takes place in two time frames: in 1974, and in 1917. Citing the true experiences of Henry Wilfred Carr, a minor official of the British consul in Zurich, Switzerland during a time when Carr was influenced by writer James Joyce, artist Tristan Tzara and a revolutionary going by the name Lenin. As his memory plays tricks so does the plot twist.
