About This Show

The Trinity Repertory Company presents The Molière Impromptu, a new adaptation of Molière’s best short works with added backstage intrigue in the outrageous commedia tradition. Adapted from The Forced Marriage, The Versailles Impromptu, and The Doctor In Spite of Himself, The Molière Impromptu is conceived and directed by Christopher Bayes, director of the Brown/Trinity Consortium’s movement and physical theater studies, and translated from the French by Rinne Groff (The Ruby Sunrise). This irreverent comedy is at its heart a loving homage to the time-honored craft of acting and the commedia dell arte tradition of improvised comedy.
