The Drowsy Chaperone

One of the funniest new musicals of the last decade and winner of 5 Tony Awards, The Drowsy Chaperone, featuring music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert & Greg Morrison, and book by Bob Martin & Don McKellar,has been called “the perfect Broadway musical” by New York Magazine. In the story, an eccentric musical theatre devotee who plays the record album of his favorite musical for the audience, with ongoing wry commentary, of a fictional show is called The Drowsy Chaperone, a supposed hit of 1928. The musical comes alive in his apartment, which is transformed into the settings for the singing and dancing characters who appear in a tale of love and stardom.
