The 4th Nail

After a successful preview season, The AYTB Theatre Company presents its first full season; a line up of daring pieces that explore the human soul and the pain of betrayal, the seduction of confession, and the need for retribution.

AYTB opens the 2005-2006 season with the world premiere of The 4th Nail. Written by local playwrigth Jared Rainier, The 4th Nail is the story of two men, both wounded by their pasts, both trying to heal, however each has taken a different path to find that peace. Martin’s thirty years of life have been shadowed by pain. After his mother’s suicide, Martin decided the only way to heal was to enact vengeance on the people who caused her downfall, therefore destroying his childhood. Paul was lost as a young man, walking a line “between angels and demons.” Through the love of a woman, the need to protect his step-daughter, Eliana, and his new found faith, Paul is now walking a path towards salvation. Has each character found the peace they are looking for or are they merely masking their pain, “the pain no one sees”?

This is the second Jared Rainier piece that AYTB has produced. The first, SPIN, was noted as “quick and punchy” making The 4th Nail “a script worth waiting for.”
