New York City
March brings the Maine premiere of Shakespeare in Hollywood, a new play by Ken Ludwig. This crazy farce is about the filming of the 1930s version of A Midsummer’s Night Dream and what happens when the real Puck and Oberon show up on the set. Audiences get to meet Louella Parsons, Dick Powell, the Warner Brothers and Jimmy Cagney, as well as other famous personalities of the 1930s. Shakespeare in Hollywood won the Helen Hayes Award for Best New Play in Washington, D.C. and stars Good Theater co-founder Stephen Underwood as Oberon. Ken Ludwig is the author of Lend Me a Tenor, Moon Over Buffalo and Crazy For You.
In addition to the regular schedule, a 3:00 PM matinee performance of Shakespeare in Hollywood is arranged for Saturday, March 24.
