About this show

Trinity Repertory Company presents the staged reading of Pieces of Us, How the Lost Find Home by William S. Yellow Robe, Jr. Directed by local theater artist Vanessa Gilbert, Pieces of Us, How the Lost Find Home explores the issues of Native identity, mixed ancestry, and the "blood-quantum" policy, through which the government parcels out rights and restrictions on the basis of a person's percentage of "real" Indian blood. Time is running out for Adam, who must piece together elements of the past to reassemble himself as a 'Native' person. It's a tricky puzzle in a world where nothing is as it appears, and everyone else wants a slice of his history. Playwright William S. Yellow Robe, Jr. combines contemporary Native American storytelling and the Greek Chorus to create a wryly humorous tale of loss and rediscovery that deals with the institutions, people, and legacies that help and hamper a Native reclaiming his heritage. *Monday, December 13th at the Dowling Theater, at Trinity Rep, 201 Washington Street at 7PM Wednesday, December 15th at the Rhode Island Indian Council, in Algonquin
