Out On The Edge Festival

Check out the longest running show in the history of New York’s celebrated Joe’s Pub/Public theater, the newest play by the Bible Belt and Other Accessories creator and the show that sold out Sydney Opera house as only a drag queen can — with a can of spray cheese!

Now in its fourteenth year, Out On The Edge is considered one of the world’s premiere queer theater festivals and is a sought-after opportunity for the nation’s queer theater artists. Out On The Edge is the only festival of its kind that includes free public education workshops that enhances community involvement and ensures each artist’s work has a lasting effect. Since 1992, this project has “hooked in” the Boston community with leading queer thinkers and artists from around the world.

Featuring writer, performer and dancer Paul Bonin-Rodriguez in Fringe and Fringe Ability (Thursday, October 13 – Sunday, October 16), Broadway’s “Hairspray,” film and cabaret star Jackie Hoffman in The Kvetching Continues (Wednesday, October 19 -Sunday, October 23), and the “tour de force” performer Varla Jean Merman in the recently expanded Girl With A Pearl Necklace: An Act Of Love (Tuesday, October 25 – Saturday, October 29). Dedicated to developing new works by local LGBT artists, the festival also features two weekends dedicated to The Theater Offensive’s Plays At Work staged readings (November 5 – 13). Works to be presented include David Valde’s Greenwood’s Constant, Letta Neely’s Shackles and Sugar, and Melissa Li’s Surviving The Nian.
