About This Show

Lyric Stage kicks off the holiday season with Inspecing Carol. It’s a hilarious fusion of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol and Gogol’s The Inspector General. The comedy centers around a professional theater company who are rehearsing for its 13th version of the annual holiday cash cow. The company is nearly bankrupt. Before approving an annual grant, an inspector from the National Endowment for the Arts is sent to investigate. To top it off, an aspiring actor comes in to audition, is hired, and naturally is mistaken for the inspector! Described as the perfect alternative to The Nutcracker and A Christmas Carol, this production of Daniel Sullivan’s play is directed by Ron Hennigan.
