About This Show

The World Beyond the Hill: The Life and Times of W.E.B Dubois cumulates a year-long project, sponsored by the Berkshire Country Day School, which commemorates the writings of one of the country’s most prolific civil rights leaders. W.E.B DuBois is best known as the first African American to receive a PhD from Harvard University, creator of the NAACP, and author to many cherished works including The Souls of Black Folk. Mickey Friedman’s play stars Tony Award Winning actor Chuck Cooper (The Life). John Hadden directs.

The show is produced by Joe Corcoran and Karen Cellini in association with Berkshire Theatre Festival.

Additional performances will be closed to the public and offered to local schools as part of Berkshire Theatre Festivals’ commitment to children and dedicated to the celebration of differences as a way to realize similarities between races, genders, backgrounds and the souls of all folk.
