Tacoma Musical Playhouse 2012-2013 Season Includes Chicago, Legally Blonde
Tacoma Musical Playhouse has announced its 19th season, which includes six Broadway-style musicals on the TMP Mainstage and three equally exciting family-friendly productions from the Tacoma Children’s Musical Theater.
The season will begin with Chicago (September 28-October 21, 2012), with a book by Fred Ebb & Bob Fosse, music by John Kander, and lyrics by Fred Ebb. Next up is The Sound of Music (November 23-December 16), with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II.
The Music of Musicals (The Musical!) will kick off 2013 (January 18-February 10, 2013), with music by Eric Rockwell, and lyrics by Joanne Bogart. Legally Blonde will run from April 5-28; based on the movie, it has a book by Heather Hach, with music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe & Neil Benjamin.
9 to 5: The Musical (May 17-June 9,) has music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, and a book by Patricia Resnick. SHOUT! The Mod Musical (July 5-28) was created by Phillip George & David Lowenstein.
Throughout the year, patrons can enhance their theater-going experience by attending the six preview presentations entitled Behind the Curtain! at TMP. On the Sunday evening prior to each of the six Mainstage openings (March 24, 2013 for Legally Blonde), TMP cast, crew, directors and designers provide a free educational and interactive preview packed with enlightening facts about the show, its history, this production, and song and dance highlights from the show.
