Stanley Bahorek, Laura Griffith, et al. Set for 5th Avenue’s Candide

Broadway veteran Stanley Bahorek will play the title role in 5th Avenue Theatre’s production of Candide, to be presented May 25-June 13. David Armstrong will direct.

The show features music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Richard Wilbur, with additional lyrics by Lillian Hellman, Dorothy Parker, John Latouche, Stephen Sondheim and Bernstein. The book is adapted from Voltaire’s novel by Hugh Wheeler, in a new version by John Caird.

The musical tells the comic and dramatic adventures of a young man as he travels the world in search of his one true love. 5th Avenue Theatre is presenting Candide as part of Seattle’s city-wide Leonard Bernstein Festival.

The cast will also feature Laura Griffith as Cunegonde, David Pichette as Voltaire/Dr. Pangloss, Anne Allgood (Old Lady), Allen Fitzpatrick (Martin), Brandon O’Neill (Cacambo), Mike McGowan (Maximilian), Timothy McCuen Piggee (King of El Dorado), and Billie Wildrick (Paquette).

The company will also include Jeffrey Alewine, Greg McCormick Allen, Jadd Davis, Mary Jo DuGaw, Anne Eisendrath, Cayman Ilika, Eric Polani Jensen, Corinna Lapid Munter, Karen Skrinde, and Dane Stokinger. Interns are Dana Blasingame, Emily Cawley, Sean Glynn, Arwen Morgan, Sage Michael Price, and Lauren Smith.
