Intiman Theatre Meets $1 Million Fundraising Goal, Moves Forward With 2012 Summer Festival Plans logo
Intiman Theatre has met its deadline to raise $1million in order to remain open, according to a report in The Seattle Times. As previously reported, the theater had cancelled much of its 2011 season last April in the face of a severe financial crisis.

With the funds that the theater has raised, the company, led by new artistic director Andrew Russell, will present a four-play summer festival in July and August. The slate of plays, to be performed in repertory by a single company of actors, includes Henrik Ibsen's Hedda Gabler, to be directed by Russell, and Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, to be directed by Allison Narver.

An additional two plays, including an American classic and a new piece conceived and directed by Dan Savage, will be announced in the near future.
