Intiman Proceeds with Fundraising Plans to Save Theatre
As previously reported, the theater was in danger of closing if it could not raise $500,000 by the end of March and another $250,000 each by June and September. The theater has so far raised just over $450,000, and will carry-over the remaining needed funds toward its next benchmark.
Kim Anderson, president of the Intiman Theatre Board of Trustees, said in a statement, "We will continue to adjust our 2011 budget and operations to live within our means. However, the community's provision of this critical $450,000 enables us to move on with strategic planning."
Towards that goal, Intiman has retained Susan Trapnell, a senior consultant with the national arts and culture management consulting firm, Arts Consulting Group, Inc. (ACG), as the Management Consultant for the theater. Meanwhile, Melaine Bennett, who was serving as acting managing director, will be transitioning away from the theater this month.
