Colman Domingo's A Boy and His Soul Added to Intiman Theatre Season
Directed by Tony Kelly, the play follows the journey of Domingo's upbringing through a box of vinyl records discovered in the basement of his boyhood home. Detailing his childhood in a working-class background and the pivotal moment of coming out as a gay African-American man in 1980's Philadelphia, the tunes of Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Donna Summer and more move him through a soundtrack of his past.
Domingo was recently seen on Broadway in The Scottsboro Boys and previously received an Obie Award for his work on the Broadway musical Passing Strange. A Boy and His Soul received a 2010 GLAAD Media Award for the show's world premiere at the Vineyard Theatre.
The 2011 Intiman season also includes All My Sons (March 18-April 17), The Call (May 13-June 12), The Playboy of the Western World (July 15-August 14), and The Piano Teacher (September 9-October 9).
