Tracy Chapman, John Guare to Receive Honorary Degrees from A.C.T.

The American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco will confer honorary master of fine arts degrees to Grammy Award-winning musician Tracy Chapman and playwright John Guare on Monday, May 11, at 11 a.m.

Chapman composed the music for A.C.T.’s production of Blood Knot last season. Her albums include Tracy Chapman, Crossroads, Let It Rain, and Where You Live.

Guare’s Rich and Famous received its first revival in A.C.T.’s 2008-09 season. His other works include House of Blue Leaves, Six Degrees of Separation, Landscape of the Body, Bosoms and Neglect and the librettos for the musicals Sweet Smell of Success and Two Gentlemen of Verona.
