Roman Holiday World Premiere Adds Georgia Engel, Michael Mulheren, and More

The musical’s pre-Broadway engagement will star Drew Gehling and Stephanie Styles.

Complete casting has been announced for the world premiere engagement of Roman Holiday — The Cole Porter Musical, coming to SHN's Golden Gate Theatre this summer before heading to Broadway.

The cast will feature five-time Emmy nominee Georgia Engel, Tony nominee Michael Mulheren, Brandon Block, Kevin Duda, Donna English, Rick Faugno, Alison Jantzie, Andrew Kober, Marissa McGowan, Kevin Munhall, Khori Petinaud, Wayne Pretlow, Shannon Rugani, Tommy Scrivens, and Brandon Andrus, Kerry Conte, Jody Reynard, and Paige Williams.

They join a cast led by previously announced stars Stephanie Styles, Drew Gehling, Tony nominee Jarrod Spector, and Sara Chase.

With a book by Kathy Speer, Terry Grossman, and Paul Blake, the production will feature Porter classics including "Night and Day," "Easy to Love," and "Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye." The musical tells the story of a young princess yearning to experience life, and an American reporter who goes from covering the royal family to covering up her escape. In the span of 24 unforgettable hours, they discover the magic of Rome, the promise of love, and a secret they will share forever. Styles and Gehling will take on roles originated in the 1953 film by Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck.

The creative team includes Todd Rosenthal (scenic design), Catherine Zuber (costume design), Peter Kaczorowski (lighting design), Brian Ronan (sound design), Sven Ortel (projection design), David Brian Brown (wig and hair design), Todd Ellison (music supervision and arrangements), Larry Blank (orchestrations), Mark Hummel (dance arrangements), and Alex Sanchez (choreography).

Directed by Marc Bruni, the new musical will run May 23-June 18 ahead of a fall 2017 Broadway opening.
