The national tour of Broadway's five-time Tony Award-winning musical Fun Home opens tonight at San Francisco's newly renovated Curran Theatre.

The Lisa Kron (book and lyrics) and Jeanine Tesori (composer) adaptation of Alison Bechdel's autobiographical graphic novel introduces us to Alison at three different ages, revealing memories of her uniquely dysfunctional family — her mother, brothers, and volatile, brilliant, enigmatic father — that connect with her in surprising new ways. Sam Gold directs.

The lead role of Alison is shared by Kate Shindle as Alison, Abby Corrigan as Middle Alison, and Alessandra Baldacchino and Carly Gold as Young Alison. They are joined by Robert Petkoff (Bruce), Karen Eilbacher (Joan), Rober Hager (Roy, Mark, Pete, Bobby, Jeremy), Lennon Nate Hammond (John), and Pierson Salvador (Christian).

The creative team includes Danny Mefford (choreography), David Zinn (scenic and costume design), Ben Stanton (lighting design), Kai Harada (sound design), and John Clancy (orchestrations).

Performances continue through February 19.
