Michael Kern Cassidy, Tony Panighetti Set for 42nd Street Moon’s Sugar

42nd Street Moon has announced casting for its upcoming production of Peter Stone, Jule Styne and Bob Merrill’s Sugar, to play April 4-22 at the Eureka Theater. Dyan McBride will direct.

Based on Billy Wilder and I.A.L. Diamond’s screenplay Some Like it Hot, Sugar premiered in 1972 and was nominated for four Tony Awards, including Best Musical, the following year.

The cast will feature Michael Kern Cassidy as Joe/Josephine and Tony Panighetti as Jerry/Daphne as well as Riley Krull (Sugar Kane), Scott Hayes (Osgood Fielding), Darlene Popovic (Sweet Sue), Zack Thomas Wilde (“Spats” Palazzo), RJ Castaneda, Tyler Costin, Caleb Haven Draper, Grant “Buzz” Halsing, David Visini, Michelle Drexler, Erica Kimble, Emily Morris, and Skye Violet Wilson.

The music director will be Saif Eddin, and choreographer will be Tom Segal. The design team will include Ellen Brooks (lighting design), Ron Gasparinetti (set design), Samantha Youn (prop design), and Felicia Lilienthal (costume design).
