Gary Beach, Dee Hoty, Alix Korey, Vicki Lewis, Burke Moses, John Scherer, Max von Essen, et al. Set for Sacramento Music Circus Season

Casting for the 60th Music Circus season has been announced. The company’s productions will run July 9 – August 29 at the Wells Fargo Pavilion in Sacramento.

The Music Circus season will open with Monty Python’s Spamalot (July 9-18). With direction by Glenn Casale and choreography by Billy Sprague, the company will feature Gary Beach (King Arthur), Mika Duncan (Sir Lancelot), Steven Strafford (Prince Herbert), Lesli Margherita (Lady of the Lake), John Scherer (Sir Robin), Ron Bohmer (Sir Galahad), Andy Taylor (Patsy), and Ron Wisniski (Sir Bedevere).

Max von Essen will play the title role in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (July 20-25), to be directed and choreographed by Richard Stafford. The company will also include Jennifer Paz (The Narrator), Paul Ainsley (Jacob and Potiphar), and David Engel (King of Egypt). In addition, the production will feature a choir of over 50 local children.

Marcia Milgrom Dodge will direct and Bob Richard will choreograph Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! (July 27 – August 1), which will feature Jeremiah James (Curly), Brandi Burkhardt (Laurey), Heather Jane Rolff (Ado Annie) Kevin Earley (Will Parker), Michael D. Jablonski (Jud Fry), Amir Talai (Ali Hakim), Kay Walbye (Aunt Eller), and Ron Wisniski (Pop Carnes), as well as Amanda Peet, a leading dancer with The Sacramento Ballet, as Dream Laurey.

David Yazbek and Jeffrey Lane’s Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (August 3-8) will star Burke Moses (Lawrence Jameson), Timothy Gulan (Freddy Benson) and Jessica Rush (Christine Colgate), along with John Scherer (Andre Thibault), Cynthia Ferrer (Muriel Eubanks), and Amy Bodnar (Jolene Oakes). The production will be directed by Stafford.

Vicki Lewis will play Fanny Brice and Brad Little will play Nicky Arnstein in Funny Girl (August 10-15), to be directed by Casale and choreographed by Dennis Castellano. The company will also include Alix Korey (Mrs. Brice), Helen Geller (Mrs. Strakosh), Michael Paternostro (Eddie Ryan), Ron Wisniski (Florenz Ziegfeld), and Jennie Scott (Mrs. Meeker).

The company for Roger Bean’s revue The Marvelous Wonderettes (August 17-22) will be Bets Malone, Misty Cotton, Lindsay Mendez, and Lowe Taylor. Bean will direct the piece in collaboration with original choreographer Janet Miller and musical director Michael Borth.

The final production in the Music Circus season will be 42nd Street (August 24-29). Directed by Charles Repole in collaboration with choreographer Michael Lichtefeld, the company will feature Dee Hoty (Dorothy Brock), Patrick Ryan Sullivan (Julian Marsh), Melissa Lone (Peggy Sawyer), Susan Cella (Maggie Jones), Zachary S. Berger (Billy Lawlor), James Patterson (Bert Barry), Kim Arnett (Anytime Annie), Gordon Goodman (Pat Denning), and Lew Lloyd (Abner Dillon), along with Ron Wisniski in multiple character roles.
