Berkeley Repertory Theatre Extends Rita Moreno: Life Without Makeup Through November 12

Berkeley Repertory Theatre has extended Rita Moreno: Life Without Makeup through November 12. David Galligan has directed the production, which has choreography by Lee Martino and musical direction by Jesse Micek.


In the solo show, written by Tony Taccone, who developed the piece with the performer, Moreno reflects on her life and career.

Moreno won an Academy Award for West Side Story and received a Tony Award for her performance in The Ritz. Among her many other stage credits are She Loves Me, Damn Yankees, Gypsy, Master Class, and Sunset Boulevard.


In addition, she has won two Emmys for her work on The Muppet Show and The Rockford Files. Her performance on The Electric Company Album earned her the Grammy Award in 1972.

The creative team includes Anna Louizos (scenic design), Annie Smart (costume design), Alexander V. Nichols (lighting and video design), and Phil Allen (sound design).
