The Dramatists Guild of America will hold its third national conference, Writing the Changing World, from July 16-19 at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California.

The conference will include keynote speeches, legal and business seminars, workshops, panels, and conversations with theater professionals. Participating Council and visiting artists include 2015 Tony winner Lisa Kron (Fun Home), Stephen Schwartz (Wicked), Kristen Anderson-Lopez (Frozen), Carol Hall (The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas), Winnie Holzman (Wicked), Georgia Stitt (Alphabet City Cycle), Bobby Lopez (Frozen), Marsha Norman (The Bridges of Madison County), John Weidman (Assassins), Julia Jordan (Murder Ballad), Amanda Green (Hands on a Hardbody), and Linda Bloodworth-Thomason (Designing Women).

Writing the Changing World will focus on storytelling for the future and the intersection of theater with television and film. Panels and workshops will focus on how to reflect the changing times in writing. The conference will include four tracks of programming running simultaneously: one track will be devoted to business and legal affairs for dramatists, two tracks will focus on playwriting and musical theater writing, and one track will be devoted completely to member-generated workshops and panels.

Tony Award-winning playwright and screenwriter John Logan (I'll Eat You Last: A Chat With Sue Mengers, Red, The Aviator) will open the conference on Thursday, July 16.
