Barefoot in the Park Casting Announced for Old Globe
Kerry Bishé and Chris Lowell lead the company of Neil Simon's romantic comedy.
The complete cast and creative team have been announced for the Old Globe Theatre's summer production of Neil Simon's Barefoot in the Park, directed by Jessica Stone. Performances will run July 28-September 2, with an official August 2 opening.
Barefoot in the Park premiered on Broadway in 1963, starring Robert Redford (Paul) and Elizabeth Ashley (Corie), and was made into a film in 1967 starring Redford and Jane Fonda. The story is described as follows: "Fresh off a honeymoon at the Plaza Hotel, free-spirited Corie and her buttoned-down husband Paul find themselves struggling to adjust to married life in their run-down New York walk-up. Throw in a loopy meddling mother, an eccentric Bohemian upstairs neighbor, and a double date that goes disastrously wrong, and you've got the perfect recipe for laughter."
The Old Globe cast features Kerry Bishé (Halt and Catch Fire) as Corie Bratter, Jere Burns (After the Night) as Victor Velasco, Mia Dillon (Crimes of the Heart) as Mrs. Ethel Banks, and Chris Lowell (GLOW) as Paul Bratter, with Ed Hollingsworth as Deliveryman and Jake Millgard as Telephone Repairman and Deliveryman.
The creative team includes Tobin Ost (scenic design), David Israel Reynoso (costume design), Amanda Zieve (lighting design), Lindsay Jones (sound design), Caparelliotis Casting, and Libby Unsworth (production stage manager).
