Trinity Repertory Company has announced that Kevin Spacey will be the recipient of the 2009 Pell Award for Distinguished Achievement in the Arts, to be presented at the 13th annual Pell Awards Gala at Pelican Ledge in Newport, Rhode Island, on June 20 at 7 pm.

The event will feature a special tribute to Senator Claiborne Pell, who passed away earlier this year and who the award is named after. As previously reported, Spacey is also the recipient of The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s ninth annual Monte Cristo Award, which will be presented to him at a dinner at Bridgewaters, a restaurant in the South Street Seaport area, on April 26 at 6:30 pm.

Spacey won the Tony Award as Best Featured Actor in a Play for Lost in Yonkers and received a Best Actor nomination for The Iceman Cometh. His other New York stage credits include Ghosts, Hurlyburly, Long Day’s Journey Into Night, and A Moon for the Misbegotten. He is also the artistic director of The Old Vic in London.

Individual tickets are $500 and $1,000, with proceeds benefitting Trinity Rep. For more information and reservations, call 401-521-1100, ext. 237.
