Illyria to Play Pittsburgh Playhouse

Point Park University’s Conservatory Theatre Company will present Illyria, a musical based on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night at the Pittsburgh Playhouse, November 10-20. Illyria, written by Peter Mills and Cara Reichel, will be directed by Scott Wise.

Since the 1600’s, Shakespeare’s comedy Twelfth Night has inspired various works through the world on stage, screen and in the case of Illyria, through song. The musical’s name originates from the mysterious land found in Twelfth Night. The energetic score transcends the play, transporting the audience to a place as extraordinary as the mythical land itself.

Illyria debuted Off-Broadway at The Hudson Grill Theater in New York City in 2002 and made its regional premier at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey in 2004.
